How did the Climate Brick team compile this data?
We started with a universe of 4,000+ European climate-tech companies sourced from Pitchbook, EQT Motherbrain, HolonIQ, Dealroom, CB Insights, Capital IQ, Crunchbase, McKinsey research, expert interviews, and press analysis.
From there, we filtered out companies that were bankrupt, founded before 2010, not venture-backed, or not aligned with one of the seven Bricks.
We then built a shortlist by selecting the top-quartile companies in each Brick based on valuation, impact, and future value-creation potential.
Finally, we chose the top ~10% per Brick using capital efficiency and value-creation trajectory, complemented by qualitative checks to ensure representation across funding stages.
How frequently do you update the data?
We collect the data from companies on a running basis with an annual refresh of the bricks released every April.
